The help wanted ads are normally the first place most people will go to in order to find a job. There are, of course, other resources, but most find the help wanted ads to be most beneficial. Usually because they are located in their local newspaper or a newspaper from nearby locations.
By utilizing the local newspaper only, a person is in reality, cutting his/her chance of finding employment dramatically. This is especially true in large cities.
The small brick and mortar shop may not have the advertising budget to post ads in the local paper. What is more common for them to do is to ask one of the employees if they know of anyone wanting or looking for work.
The medium sized business, except for entry-level positions, has only placed the ad to conform to some company wide policy or possibly state law. They will normally write the position requested based on a currently employed employees qualifications so that they may fill the vacancy from within. The large companies usually hire from job fairs, employee recommendations, or employment agency representatives.
The new breed of help wanted ads, jobs listed on the Internet Many job search boards, are a very good source for looking at possible employment opportunities.
There are many to choose from, all offering various degrees of friendliness to the user. I liked www.dice.com and www.monster.com . There are many more.
Do not forget to ask your friends, associates, relatives, and even your neighbors if they are aware of anyone looking for new employees. Do not be bashful! After all, it is you seeking to make an income. Even though someone is willing to help you find employment, they will not know that you are looking unless you ASK.
