Abbreviated version…..I am a retired service member (22 years Navy). Other ventures have included my own foreign auto repair shop, working with my brother at a Arco AM/PM in San Diego County, and management of another foreign auto repair shop among other things. My last job was with ZiLOG in Campbell CA, a small suburb of San Jose. My last day with ZiLOG was 19 May '99.
Not so abbreviated….
I joined the Navy a couple of years after high school and some college. Did 22 years with the Navy and for the most part enjoyed it.
I was introduced to computer systems in '78 and then again in '81. In '82, I received the designation of Assistant System Admin for a Dec PDP 11/32 system onboard ship.
When I left the ship I picked up a Kaypro 4 portable (?) CPM computer system. When I received my 300 baud modem I started learning quickly. I even hosted a couple of Bulletin Board Systems up till '91.
I worked at an ARCO AM/PM for a few months and then a foreign auto repair shop for 3 years. I had previously had my own shop in Pensacola FL during '69-'74.
I was lucky in '95 and was asked to work at ZiLOG, Inc in Campbell CA. I worked in the Data Center as a computer operator on a HP3000. Also maintained a watch on the other systems in the data center and our network equipment and operations.
I really enjoyed my tour at ZiLOG but left May '99. A casualty of the Y2K scare. (Our operating system on the HP3000 would not work on 1 Jan 2000).
I went to Indiana and then my present location in Batesville Arkansas.
I have been working online since Nov 1999. I have been affiliated with one company ever since.
I have ventured into many other online companies. You know, the grass is always greener on the other side…… I always return to my trusted, first choice, as it has always worked and is still there and growing.
I have very strong opinions as to the credibility of our economy in the US. That is a driving factor in my turning to the Internet for my income and retirement.
I was married for 25 years and have two boys and two daughters. After almost 11 years of living alone, I met the love of my life, Susie. Together we work at home on the Internet and around the house and property. I might add that the property was initially purchased with income generated from the Internet and my primary program.
I currently strive to make my feelings about our economy and why the Internet is the only way to guarantee a retirement. In doing so I have created and maintain several web sites. Bill's Place is the current rendition of what was started in Nov 1999. I have also created and formed B and S Marketing, here just outside of Batesville in Desha. Susie also has a small site, Susie's Corner, that I help her with.
I have also started creating a paid site which I hope to make live in Feb 2008. I am looking forward to that as it is a total of all I have learned these past 8 years. It is a members only web site. Gathered on the Internet, a complete library of books and software for members to use and make available to their own web site visitors and to build their busines.
